Perhaps I wasn't clear: Why should the fans invest in believing that "everything will be different" when sometimes, as frequently as the next issue (*COUGH*FEARITSELF*COUGH*) the "everything will be different" is undone? I'm really enjoying Age of Ultron, but I could care less if it takes place in the mainstream Marvel U because I know whatever happens will only have the most temporary of impacts.
If all you care about is “everything will be different”, then you should probably just stop reading comics now, as that’s not really what we’re all about. You can’t do explosion after explosion after explosion without desensitizing the audience and destroying the bedrock of your characters and your world. What we are about is story–and stories, by their nature, change characters and their relationships. The Marvel Universe is a dynamic, ever-evolving place, and that more than anything else is the heart of its appeal. But as with any project we publish, it’s completely up to you whether or not you want to invest your time and money in reading it.
