  • Tom, with Dc constantly announcing creative team changes due to problems with editorial I'm curious, when you announce someone on a book I assume they've done a green light writing pitch? Have you ever decided to totally scrap an despite this due to differences? I assume at marvel you guys pretty much lay it out on the table where you would like things to go.

First off, obviously, I can’t speculate on what might have gone wrong in these recent cases at DC. But sometimes, things happen that make it impossible to continue on the creative trajectory that you were on. Typically that sort of thing gets worked out well in advance of solicitation time–but not always. As a general rule, though, we have an understanding about the stories our creators want to do in the coming months and a confidence and comfort level in theirs and our ability to see those stories through to successful completion. So there isn’t a need to have such wild and rapid turn-over creatively. That’s a sure sign that something isn’t working right somewhere.
