First off, obviously, I can’t speculate on what might have gone wrong in these recent cases at DC. But sometimes, things happen that make it impossible to continue on the creative trajectory that you were on. Typically that sort of thing gets worked out well in advance of solicitation time–but not always. As a general rule, though, we have an understanding about the stories our creators want to do in the coming months and a confidence and comfort level in theirs and our ability to see those stories through to successful completion. So there isn’t a need to have such wild and rapid turn-over creatively. That’s a sure sign that something isn’t working right somewhere.
