I don’t have the real answer, and since I am at home, I can’t just walk over and ask Tom Brevoort.
But it’s a pretty interesting question.
Their mother has been revealed to not have actually been a mutant, which would suggest that they also might not be mutants.
On the second hand, while you can inherit the X-gene from your parents, that isn’t the only way to get it–and in fact, it’s not the most common way. Most mutants develop the X-Gene with no genetic history of it. So they still could be.
On the third hand, they aren’t really Wanda’s children?
And on the fourth hand, to the extent they ARE Wanda’s children, they would have been created by Wanda, right? So…would she create them accurately, making them non-mutants like she is, but did not realize at the time? Or would she have made them mutants, incorrectly thinking she was one as well?
There’s a lot to consider. Not sure what is currently the status.
