The sliding timescale of Earth-616 says any references to Reed and Ben fighting in World War II should be considered topical reference. If that's true should we assume that the "Reed Richards" seen in Sgt. Fury #3 and the "Ben Grimm" seen in Captain Savage #7 are in reality similarly named relatives? (much like how the "war history" of General Ross has been retconned to relatives?)
They don’t even need to be relatives necessarily, since nothing they do in those stories is endemic to them. It could just be some other OSS man on Midnight Mountain, some other pilot that Captain Savage saves. Either way, it’s not like it’s likely to come up much after all this time.
