  • Hi Tom, going back and reading the various takes on the origins of the Fantastic Four and in Chris Claremont's story in Fantastic Four Vol 3 #11 Reed suggests that someone might have sabotaged his project. This was never brought up again since... But if it were to be brought up again, wouldn't the Quiet Man be a great candidate for being responsible for that? Speaking of.. In Alonso's FF swansong.. was he suggesting that the Quiet Man was posing Willie Lumpkin the whole time? Hope not!

I feel like introducing such an element into the Fantastic Four’s origin would change it too dramatically. I understand the desire to absolve our heroes of wrongdoing, but I think it’s much better and more primal if Reed simply made a mistake. I don’t need or want for there to have been a villain behind it.
