  • Tom, what is the thinking behind hiring an artist to design a character that they are not going to be the artist for? McKelvie doing the Captain Marvel a couple years back, almost all the ones Kris Anka has done, Opena's All-New Cap design, stuff like that. Don't get me wrong, most of them are pretty great, just curious as to why not have the main artist for those characters/books do that work since they're going to be drawing it so much?

Some artists have a particular skill at designing characters. So if you’re going to create a new character, regardless of whether that artist will be drawing them regularly in the future or not, it often makes sense to go to the best designers.
