Tom - I know that you've said in the past--several times that I recall--that there's no real incentive to do inter-company crossovers (e.g. "JLA/Avengers"). I understand the logic behind the statement, but I have to wonder... Wouldn't there be enough of a margin in it to at least cover expenses AND make some fans of multiple franchises very happy? And isn't there added potential there to pull in comic readers that might not otherwise read a Marvel book? Just the thoughts of an outside observer.
I hate to put it this crassly, but we aren’t in business, nor do we get to stay in business, by just covering expenses. And I don’t think you’d get so huge an influx of people returning for a crossover that it would make enough of a difference. Remember, you need to make twice as much money in, say, BATMAN v SPIDER-MAN as you do on just a Spidey book alone in order to make the same money, since your earnings are also split with another company.
