I answer a lot of questions very flippantly on here, and I think we all have some fun. But I want to get serious for a moment just on the off chance that you meant what you said.
Ellie is a terrific character to read about, and it is absolutely our goal to make you attached to her. It was our intention that mentioning her death in issue 6 would upset people, and make them fear for what would become of Ellie.
But no character in our comics is worth a real person’s life.
Heck, ALL of the characters in our comics are not worth a real person’s life.
And I don’t even mean that in a dismissive way–I know for some people who might be having a hard time, embracing art, a world of fiction, books, comics, tv, music…it can be a real lifeline that can help you through hardships. But don’t put the horse before the cart–the art is helping you. It’s the helper, not the reason to be.
So…I am not going to spoil what’s going to happen with Ellie. I hope you keep being engaged enough to keep reading. But definitely know that you are more important than Ellie could ever be.
Unless you happen to be Nick Lowe. In that case, whatever will be, will be.
