I get that this is your tumblr and you get to make the rules, but I don’t get why you feel it’s ok when someone heaps praise before a book is released, but get offended if someone has a really poor reaction to a synopsis or preview. For example I’m sure you’re gonna get a bunch of readers saying “oh boy can’t wait for Civil War II” whereas i looked at the synopsis and just thought it was kind of a poor plot especially in a universe full of time travelers, precogs, telepaths, et al. If i say it doesn’t sound like the plot is very good and the story doesn’t really seem to have any legs your response will probably be kind of snarky and give me shit for my prejudgment. Which is your right, but people make judgments on plot synopses all the time. Agents and publishers will read a synopsis and decide whether or not to bother reading a novel submission. I just don’t get why you don’t think that’s a valid judgment (and conversely why you think you think someone who did read the info on Civil war II and is hyped for it is completely justified).
> You were pretty reasoned and reasonable in your argument, and so I’ve decided to post this. But most of the folks who hear about an upcoming story and don’t like it write in anger, insulting the creators or making unfair leaps of logic and then reacting as though those leaps are the story we’re doing. Those, I don’t post. Also, on the most basic level, I can thank somebody who’s excited about what’s coming up, but don’t really have anything I can say apart from “Sorry you don’t care for it” to somebody who isn’t. It’s not as though I’m going to put the brakes on a storyline because somebody has misgivings about it, after all. So a positive response is just easier all around to respond to.And, in Tom’s defense because I do like him he posts a fair amount of both “thank you"s and” I’m sorry you didn’t care...
