When doing what if's has there ever been talk of doing them in the art style of older comics? For instance when What If was originally in print it was coloured the same or similar to the original story as a result of the paper stock but now that the paper stock has improved and colouring has evolved at times it feels a bit disjointed from the original story.

Nope. It’s a modern comic, needs to connect with a modern audience, so it needs to be produced with modern tools.
