  • Here's the thing, I'm not exactly a long memoried nostalgist. I got into Captain America through the movies, so the specific memories "Tales of Suspense" evokes are only two or three years old. "Tales of Suspense" (or "Tales to Astonish" or "Journey into Mystery") is appealing in its vagueness in the same way Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark would have been before anyone had actually seen them. Besides, lest we forget, your whole company was named for a long dead anthology series.

Star Wars tells you what the film is: wars in space. Raiders of the Lost Ark is less clear, but implies tomb robbing at the very least. You may not relate the title to something specific, but you can hear it and have a basic understanding as to what you’re getting.

TALES OF SUSPENSE implies something, too, but what it implies isn’t lost or untold stories of Captain America. The only reason that there’s an association is that fifty years ago there was a Captain America strip in an anthology series of that name. But it’s a name that means nothing, or worse, the wrong thing, to any prospective reader who isn’t familiar with that bit of comic book history.
