  • To follow up on another's question, is being Editor in Chief a thankless job? I see all kinds of people ripping on Dan Didio and Joe and Alex and even yourself (realize you and Joe aren't EIC, but you two take a lot of the flack as well) online, while creators will praise you guys. As important as the job is, do you feel that it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of situation?

It’s not thankless, no, there are always upsides, and that’s beyond the paycheck. But in terms of a forum like this one, you’re never going to make everybody happy. Can’t be done. And being in that sort of a position, you are the face of the organization–the buck stops with you. So you get the blame for whatever a particular fan might be upset about whether or not it’s something that you actually did (or even something that ever once crossed your mind.) But if you can’t deal with that, then you’re probably not the right person for the job in the first place.
