Could Marvel ever launch a series with a one-and-done first issue instead of doing whatever it is you think will bring us back for issue two? The FCBC ANAD Avengers did this really well. Make the first issue exceptional, then launch into the 6-part storyline.
We have done this on occasion, depending on the series. UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL did it, for one, as did HAWKEYE.
