I've been reading some old Bullpen Bulletins from the late 60s and it's amazing how far things have come. They'd talk about not just every new talent to Marvel but weddings and when people got new cars or nehru jackets and even whatever job outside of Marvel Flo Steinberg had. I guess we can always ask you here about what Jason Aaron is driving these days.
The big difference, really, is that Stan had only something like 16 or 17 titles to plug every month, which is a fraction of our output now–and he needed to fill those column inches with something. (It’s also interesting to hear some of the behind-the-scenes about some of those mentioned incidents, which didn’t play out in real life quite the way Stan glamorized them…)
