Tom, as an aspiring creator and soon-to-be self published comic writer(limited release - get 'em while they're hot!) - what can you tell me about different types of paper? What works best in Marvel's opinion? What sets your inks and papers aside from all the others (as I personally think your stuff is *clicks tongue* real noice) and most importantly -- what is a brief history of comic paper up 'til now? Thanks, and I totally understand if this is not the sort of post you have time for. X&O -Ty
You’re speaking of the paper stock we print on, yes, rather than the paper our artists might work on to draw. I don’t know that I can give you a full breakdown of the history of comic book paper stocks over the years. These days, the quality of affordable paper and printing is superior to what was available in the past, so it becomes a question of balancing cost and affordability with making sure that the package looks and feels good.
