I think the problem with this "influential" querelle lies in the fact that many people understand "clones", people who directly copy or are inspired by a specific artist, but don't see the influence artist like Adams and Golden had on the whole industry completely modernizing the way comics were drawn because they don't see an artist whose style totally resemble theirs.

That very well may be true.

I think in some of these instances, it’s people who don’t know how to agree to disagree. They need to “win” this non-argument at any cost.
