Why don't editors get creator credits on certain characters or teams? I know sometimes the idea originates with them and then the writer pitches a story. Thanks!

Because it’s part of the job of the editor to come up with ideas and contribute to the overall health of and storylines for the titles they work on.
Creators get the credit; Editors get the blame.
