Why all the hate for Jim Shooter? He did a lot of good for Marvel, and I think it's safe to say that Marvel wouldn't be what it is today without him. And going by his blog and convention appearances, he seems like a generally nice guy.

Jim is a divisive figure, in that while, yes, he did do everything that you say and more, he also made a lot of people’s lives miserable along the way–including most of the key creators on the runs best associated with his era. Like anyone, Jim is neither good nor bad, he’s just a person, and people are complicated and complex.
