  • How do you determine what is a permanent change (e.g., I assume Carol Danvers - Captain Marvel is permanent) vs. the illusion of change (most temporary status quo changes)? For us long timers, we do appreciate the character growth that can come with lasting change, but see how you want to balance that with staying with an archetype.

    To some degree, the audience does that for us. We typically have an intention when we start out, and a sense as to what we’re doing and for how long–but it’s entirely flexible. Even something that’s meant to be permanent–the Punisher becoming an Avenging Angel, for instance–can be relatively quickly reversed if the audience as a whole doesn’t respond well to it.
