  • Tom, I've seen yourself and a number of other comics creators call for stronger criticism and more thorough analysis of the industry, but why is it that every time these creators are actually given criticism, its ignored or just viewed as "hate from fans"? Surely y'all don't see your works as above reproach?

    As I said earlier, I think that sometimes the fans confuse criticism with abuse. Here’s a tip: anything that says anything derogatory about the creators themselves, rather than the work, is abuse.

    Also, just because somebody gives criticism doesn’t mean that the creators involved necessarily agree with it. It’s all food for thought, though, when done well. When done poorly, though, it’s just more being screamed at by the Internet.
