  • When there's no credit for colorist, do we assume it's the artist? I never noticed Uncanny Avengers had no colorist credit until thinking the colors in #5 seemed off compared to the previous issues so I checked my back issues. Being the colorist seems like such a different discipline shouldn't the artist be credited for it if he does it? Plus, if an artist colors, pencils, and inks, do they get paid for three jobs?

Everybody gets paid for all of the jobs that they do, to answer your last question first. Also, I’d like to parse your question a little bit differently, in that colorists are artists, regardless of whether or not they’re doing line art as well.

If there’s a credit for artist and no colorist credit, then yes, that artist did the whole job. If the artist did pencil and ink, typically they’ll be credited as Artist and the colorist as Color Art. And if there are three people involved, Penciler, Inker, Colorist.
