I find today's Marvel comics too writer-centric. Writers like Hickman build their own stories and their own personal continuity at Marvel, which is great, but I don't get the feeling of writers building on the ideas of past writers and weaving everything into something bigger than themselves, which is the one thing shared characters can do that personal characters can't. Of course you'd point out '90s comics were too editor driven, and that's worse. True.
