Is it just me or is the "eight months later, characters are in new situations that we will gradually find out the history of" kind of an homage to the original Secret Wars, in which the characters disappeared for a month, and then came back with unexpected new things like She-Hulk in the FF and Ben nowhere to be seen, Spider-Man's new alien costume, the Hulk with a broken leg, Colossus' heartbreak, and so on?
