  • When you talk about going back to print on books (omnibuses or otherwise) you say it comes down to retailer demand. But how do you gauge that demand? As a retailer I can say that if I look up a book and it's out of print/out of stock, I don't order it. Why would I? I'm sure most retailers do the same thing. So how do you know that people are looking for these books or not?

We speak to our retailers, so if there is demand for a new printing of a particular volume, and that demand is real and lasting, we tend to hear about it. But quite often, what one store in one part of the country wants, other stores in other parts of the country couldn’t be less interested in. This is why we need a genuine level of interest before we go back to press on an item–especially an Omnibus, which aren’t meant to be reprinted in the first place. As a retailer, you must appreciate how much capital stocking an Omnibus ties up, so if it isn’t going to turn quickly, that’s money that’s sitting on a shelf in your store.
