  • I'm not a conspiracy theorist but, in part given its 90s setting, I'm getting a real Knightfall vibe from RenewYourVows. The story goes that Azrael was a reaction to fans wanting more XTREME out of Batman at the time, a paternalistic sort of "watch what you wish for," to use a narrative to show fans how wrong they were. The last pages resonated with me as a father, but at the same time, I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that the comic was trying to be manipulative of fans in unpleasant ways.
