  • Hey Tom. I was having an argument with a friend over when Jack Murdock died. He says the official continuity is when Matt was in college (as per Daredevil #1). And as such, Man Without Fear isn't canon (with Jack dying much earlier). I think Man Without Fear has retconned the initial continuity and it is now "canon." So...who's right? Is Man Without Fear out of continuity?

Man Without Fear began life as a treatment for a DAREDEVIL movie that was never made. As such, it’s at variance with the established history of Daredevil in several respects.

That said, elements of Man Without Fear have been folded into the continuity. It doesn’t supersede DAREDEVIL #1, though. Rather, the two exist side-by-side in a kind of state of quantum uncertainty.

Long story short, Jack Murdock died when Matt was in college.
