Tom, I think your ideas about the pricings of comics is off, sure less expensive books don't sell as well, but you also rarely ever make the less expensive books starring your high profile characters. If you sold Amazing Spider-Man at 2.99 instead of 3.99, I'm sure you'd sell just as much if not more (especially considering its a twice a month book.), and then hey, your customer has an extra couple dollars in their pocket they could spend on another book!
If we sold AMAZING SPIDER-MAN at $2.9 rather than $3.99, all that would change is the amount of money we were bringing in. And then the creative team would change, because we couldn’t pay them near what they get right now.
Your argument boils down to “I’d like AMAZING SPIDER-MAN to be cheaper.” And that is true, but that does not mean that it would sell better, and certainly not enough better to offset the loss of revenue. You’re going by your gut, but I am going by reams and reams of sales data. It may be counter-intuitive to you, but I’m afraid it’s true.
