If the only reaction you ever have to editorial/creative decisions you disagree with is "It's not what I would have done", you're not a real comics fan. Being a fan is about emotional investment, and outrage comes with the territory.

I think there’s a difference between an emotional response and bad behavior, though. Too often the first expresses itself through the second, and the fan involved feels justified because of whatever story-turn he didn’t like. Fans tend to think the people involved in creating the comics are less real human beings than the fictional characters within the comics.
