  • Now that you have a series called "Where Monsters Dwell", I hope you'll resurrect "Tales to Astonish" as a series title. It's the best comic book title ever written. I don't even know what this hypothetical Tales to Astonish would be about or who would write it, but I already want to buy it. Related question: why are the titles for Big Two comics always so literal? Aside from Action and Detective Comics, they're all pretty much the name of the main character of the book. Kind of boring.

    Well, you want the title to tell you what it is that you’re getting, and those direct titles tend to sell better–it’s always been easier to sell BATMAN than DETECTIVE COMICS (which is why DETECTIVE has so often had a huge BATMAN logo as part of its masthead.)

    WHERE MONSTERS DWELL was almost called TALES TO ASTONISH, but I actually suggested the change to WMD, as i thought that was more reflective of the contents of the story.
