  • Why do you think Spider-Man's secret identity has remained so central to his character even as most of the other Marvel characters have given up on secret identities?

    Primarily because the engine that drives the Spider-Man series is the conflicts between Peter Parker’s normal life and responsibilities, and those of his super hero identity. All of that goes away once his secret identity becomes general knowledge.
