You've said in the past that it's bad practice to have villains permanently become heroes or even just neutral characters, with a few notable exceptions (ie the original Thunderbolts). But I wonder what you think about what has been done with Venom. Despite his former massive popularity as a bad guy, it's hard to imagine the character easily becoming a villain again because so much work has been done to establish him / it as a hero.
i think the key thing here is that Venom quite literally isn’t the same person anymore. Making Flash Thompson Venom was something of a master stroke, I think. This gave us a Venom who was already a known quantity to the readership, and who, while flawed, was still more of a classic hero. Whereas Eddie Brock could continue to be a villain, as Anti-Venom or whatever he’s going by now.
