I think that some fans get tired of a particular creator at some time, sure. The classic example of this is Chris Claremont on X-MEN. During his 17 year run, the “seasoned, in-the-know fans” would constantly complain that Chris had fallen into a rut, that his work was lackluster and not up to the heights it had previously attained, and that he should get off the book. But what was interesting was that, depending on when they’d started reading X-MEN, each of those fans had a different point at which they considered Chris to be at his peak–and the newer readers of X-MEN at any given time loved what he was doing. This is one of the reasons why he was able to have such a long, unbroken run on that series. But it doesn’t make those older readers wrong–opinion is subjective, after all.
