    Nor was Street Poet Ray an original character. The project was first published at Blackthorne.

    Then either Marvel’s longtime president Jim Galton “discovered it,” or some PR person showed it to him. He fell in love with it and dragged it in to Marvel over the resistance of just about everyone else there.

    So it was the classic Lana-Turner-esque story of being published someplace small, catching the eye of a bigwig, and then being groomed for stardom and thrust into the spotlight.

    Er, without the actual stardom, that is.
