  • You know what sucks Tom? That Peter David has to quit writing X-Factor because of the sales and ranking but it's Nova repeatedly ranks under it but you keep Nova going and Cancel X-Factor. And don't go putting me in the same bin as the Sam Haters because I like that book and buy that book but just don't think Marvel plays fair. Every book has to make it sales like you like to repeat so then what gives? and the same for Captain Marvel?

You’re only taking into account one distribution channel (and then not even the actual sales but just the rankings.) So with digital and in collected edition form and so forth, NOVA and CAPTAIN MARVEL perform better.

But in terms of “doesn’t play fair”, we’re under no obligation to play fair. We can publish or not publish whatever we want to, it’s our time, our effort, and our investment, ultimately. We’ve got a methodology to what we do, but that methodology isn’t solely driven by sales absolutely. If it was, Wolverine would still be alive.
