  • Tom, I'm wondering what was behind the decision to tell the story about Cap having his memory erased by the Illuminati in Avengers when it began in New Avengers? I'm reading both series, so it worked for me, but readers of New Avengers only will have missed a great tale. By the way, Hickman's Avengers run has been one of the all-time best. I hope you guys will really consider bringing him back for a sequel run in a few years.

The story that’s been running through AVENGERS and NEW AVENGERS has been one story all along, as is now becoming very much apparent.

As such–and given that Jonathan is writing both series and has been since the start–it wasn’t any big thing that the resolve of that one plot point was taking place in the other book. We’re really well past the point where you could be reading one title and not the other and really have any clue as to what is going on.

Which is kinda crummy on our part, I grant you. But it’s the machine that we built.

As things have turned out, there are further plot points that began in one book that will be wrapped up in the other, all the way through to the end. So you haven’t seen anything yet!
