I'm waiting to read Axis on Unlimited. However, I read the Vision & Scarlet Witch miniseries when it was originally published, and all this discussion about Wanda's parentage has me wondering: do you know if the Magneto revelation in that series was something Bill Mantlo came up with on his own?
No, the Magneto revelation was the brainchild of a number of people a few years earlier, and set up in both X-MEN and AVENGERS in scenes in both books where you had to have read both in order to get the full picture. Even the characters were unaware of the circumstances.
As I understand it, the intention at that time was that this was the way things were going to be left–as a fun, hidden little Easter egg–but Bill decided to do the story that he did, and things went a different way.
