I asked Bendis about having artists at the writer's summits and he said that since they're story driven, it's not really appropriate. However, when a large story is planned, title or universe-wide, does anyone in the art dept create a style guide? So far I've seen the Weaver from Spider-verse with at least 3 different masks by 3 different artists. Seems it would be an easy editorial catch and have willy nilly art choices redrawn for consistency's sake.

Yes, typically there’s reference that gets shared back and forth between the various assorted artists involved in a project. But even that doesn’t prevent mistakes from happening–some that get caught and fixed, some that don’t get caught, and some that get caught but are simply too extensive and time-consuming to be able to fix.
Plus, who’s to say the Master Weaver doesn’t have more than one mask? How many masks has Spidey himself had (to say nothing of the many Spider-guys in SPIDER-VERSE)?
Also, artists do get to come to our summits, though not in as great a number as our writers, as what Brian says is correct.
