Hi Tom. Hope all is good with you. I just saw a previous post in regards to CM Punk writing a Thor story for you guys. Now, please don't think this is a personal attack against Punk, whose achievements in wrestling are something I have utmost admiration for. I must ask though... do you think this could be a kick in the teeth to comic creators out there who have worked hard for years to get stuff printed at Marvel or DC, yet because he's a name he gets a writing gig with you guys?

I’ve done this rap before, so let me hit the highlights quickly:

Nobody is owed work.

Somebody else getting work doesn’t alter your own chances of getting work one bit. You don’t succeed because others fail, you succeed by succeeding.

And if the best you’ve got is to be upset because somebody else was able to leverage their experiences in another film into an opportunity, then you should pack it in, you’re not made of stern enough stuff.

Work hard, work smart.

But as Mark Gruenwald once said, the comic book industry won’t miss the people who never make it, because it’s impossible to miss what was never there in the first place.
