  • How important do you think awards are in the comics industry? In my business (advertising) they can make a career, and the biz is infamous for having work done with the sole intent of chasing awards. Is comics kinda the same or is it a small enough industry that you'll know the creators' work / personality and be able to judge for yourself?

Awards are a lovely ego-stroke for the people who receive them in the comic book business.

But beyond that, they’re completely meaningless.

Winning awards won’t make your book sell better, or make other people more willing to hire you, not to any degree where it makes a tangible difference.

So it’s nice, but given teh choice, I’d rather have the sales.
