New Brevoort Formspring

When did the Infinity Gauntlet become a cosmic item by itself? If I recall correctly, it was just the glove Thanos decided to place the gems in, it wasn't special on its own. But recently (last 10 years) it has been referred as a cosmic item too. Both Bendis and Hickman have had it manifest itself when the gems are together, as if it was part of them. I'm not complaining, or expecting some no-prize answer to explain it away, I'm just curious when it started.
