Hey Tom, someone told me that Marvel purposely had one of their 75th anniversary posters/covers with Spider-Man and other Marvel characters all owned and useable for Marvel studios to hint that Spider-Man would be crossing over in to the MCU. The person basically said you, Alonso, Quesada, and Feige were all in on it and if not it was ordered by your bosses. So is that true? On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the craziest, how crazy is that rumor/theory?

That’s 100% bona-fide crazy.

I don’t know what discussions or negotiations mayor may not be happening between Marvel Studios and anybody else. But those negotiations have no bearing on what we publish in our books (and even if they did, you would wait until the deal was done before doing something like this if you were of a mind to, because things can always go wrong right up until the last minute.)

Also, what would be the point of doing something like this in such a way that people didn’t know about it? If we had something to announce, we would announce it, we wouldn’t be sending you coded messages in the subtext of our covers.
