  • How do you decide which Events take place across books, such as BLACK VORTEX, or in a separate title, such as AXIS? The trend seems to be that if it involves the Avengers, which are essentially the aggregate of the MU, it gets it's own title. If it's stuck to one corner like Spider-Man, it's mostly a cross-over. I'm not implying anything, but I think an event with it's own title would bring more of that "it matters" feeling to the non-Avengers corners of the MU which only helps those corners out

Depends on the story and the creative team as much as anything. Especially on a Spider-Man event, as that’s really a one-book franchise (for all that we now suddenly have three female-led spider-books) doing the spine of the story in the main series makes the most sense. That’s also the way that story was constructed. For others, such as BLACK VORTEX, they were designed to have a kick-off book, and then to run serially through all of the various series. In either case, doing those stories as stand-alone series would create problems–most notable among them being what do you do in the other ongoing serie with those characters while those storylines are playing out?
