Regarding Avengers' 600th issue, it seems like a cheat to consider New Avengers in that count. New Avengers is a title that has often run concurrently with Avengers. It is also a title that has mainly had its own plot and characters, separate from the main Avengers title. So how do you consider that part of the regular Avengers series? You may as well throw in West Coast Avengers and Mighty Avengers while you're at it. It's all so arbitrary.

During the period that we’re talking about, NEW AVENGERS was the successor title to AVENGERS.It was the book that replaced it, and for much of that period was the only AVENGERS title there was. So it counts in the same manner that FF counted in those months where it had succeeded FANTASTIC FOUR.
Once AVENGERS came back, NEW AVENGERS wasn’t that anymore, and so it ceased to hold that banner, again in the same manner as FF.
