Remember back during the Shooter and DeFalco eras where annuals would be triple sized and used for crossovers like Evolutionary War, Shattershot and Atlantis Attacks? What happened to those big annual crossovers that you could collect in an omnibus?

They were a bear to produce, they were only so-so in terms of quality across the entire line of Annuals, and they didn’t sell particularly better than regular old Annuals that weren’t inter-connected. So, over time, we first played with the formula a little bit and then dropped it for the most part.
Still, even today we’ll do connected Annual or Special stories, like the Superior Spider-Man/Indestructible Hulk/All-New X-Men one of a year or two back.
